SUMMARY
We're seeking an experienced Proposal Writer to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for evaluating and pricing Administrative Services Only arrangements for self-funded health plans. This member would assist in writing content for self-funded proposals, developing compelling, well-researched proposals for our organization. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. Position is 95% remote; this individual will need to live within 1 hour driving distance from the company’s headquarters as in-office attendance is required as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, organize, and maintain a content library to improve efficiency in proposal creation.
- Edit and write RFP responses, ensuring clarity, compliance, and compelling narratives.
- Lead proposal strategy sessions and contribute to win themes, outlines, and response matrices.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (internal and external) to gather and synthesize complex information.
- Edit and proofread proposals for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Manage proposal timelines and ensure on-time submission.
- Maintain proposal templates and a library of reusable content.
- Analyze client data to assess risk and determine appropriate pricing.
- Collaborate with sales teams to create competitive proposals.
- Evaluate plan design and recommend cost containment strategies.
- Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
In-depth understanding of insurance coverage products including, but not limited to : Healthcare benefits, Life benefits, Retiree benefits, STD / LTD, Vision, Dental, Consumer driven products (Flex, HRA, HSA).Advanced knowledge of federal regulations and best practices of health insurance institutions.Project management and organization skills.Decision-making and critical thinking skills.Experience working with private and sensitive personal information.Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary software.Advanced level with Excel preferred.QUALIFICATIONS
2-3 years of related experience required.Experience responding to government procurement opportunities for businesses contracting agencies.Ability to interview SMEs and synthesize technical details into well-structured content.A proactive, adaptable mindset with a willingness to jump into various tasks as needed.PREFERRED
Strong analytical skills to interpret RFP requirements and tailor responses accordingly.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.Knowledge of content management platforms.Familiarity with AI-based RFP tools.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to speak / hear clearly to communicate by phone or in person.Ability to frequently stand, sit and walk.Ability to frequently lift and / or move up to 15 pounds.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Flexible Work Arrangements
