Pipe Fitter

Summary / Objective : Pipe Fitters fabricate and join metal pipes, valves, and fittings, and layout for installation from prints, diagrams, work orders, and / or verbal instructions using hand and powered hand tools. They must be familiar with OSHA requirements for safety and hot work onboard naval vessels.

Duties include, but are not limited to :

• Ability to interpret and fabricate piping system components using prints, written and / or verbal directions in a shop environment.
• Accomplish removals, preparation, and installation of reused and new materials onboard naval vessels.
• Familiarity with the workmanship requirements of the following :

MIL-STD-22, Welded Joint Design

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work : This is a full-time position requires 40+ hours of work per week. M-F 0600 - 1430 (or as otherwise assigned by Project Manager) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.

Work Environment : This job operates in a shipyard work environment.

Travel : This position does require ability to travel.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.

May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., frequent stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, and walking.
