Job Summary / Description :
- WIFR in Rockford, Illinois, is accepting applications for a full-time Meteorologist to join our award-winning team. The perfect individual will have Meteorology experience, prepare and deliver weather forecasts, and weather information as part of the overall WIFR News team, be able to write, edit, and shoot engaging, informative, and compelling news and weather content;
- develop and execute community interest stories on a regular basis; consistently contribute to weather and news content on the station's social media and digital platforms;
maintain an unequivocal commitment to accuracy, fairness, and ethics; meet daily production deadlines; and other duties as assigned.
Duties / Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) :
- Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts
- Prepare graphics to support weather presentation
- Flexible schedule for severe weather & winter weather scenarios
- Work closely with news management in designing presentation style and editorial content for on-air weather presentations
- Developing and reporting stories
- Preparation of material for delivery of newscasts
- Post content to website and social media platforms Qualifications / Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in meteorology
- Prior experience as a broadcast meteorologist
- Strong on-air communication skills
- Ability to work as part of an on-air team and part of a weather team
- Ability to be creative with graphic design and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to accurately forecast weather
- Proficient in social media platforms
