The Technician 3, Central Evenings, Narcotics works in the Central Pharmacy to provide administrative support across the continuum of care in the Narcotics Vault and Central Pharmacy. This position is 20% operations and 80% administrative that provides a lead role and responsibility of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) programs. This position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for controlled substances and narcotic reconciliation in the inpatient setting. They are responsible for assisting which includes filling first / STAT & routine doses for medication orders and documenting all processes in accordance with state / national / federal standards. They also contribute by delivering medications for a variety of Narcotic-related procedures and medication management, managing narcotic-related workflows, and coordinating care with providers. They also provide consistent patient and provider service, and patient safety.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position .

• California Licensed Pharmacy Technician
• Two (2) years of inpatient hospital Pharmacy experience.
• Inpatient compounding experience.
• Ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations.
• Working knowledge of sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures
• Knowledge of pharmacy terminology
• Basic knowledge of automatic dispensing machine systems.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for USP, USP and USP
• Knowledge of inpatient controlled substances workflows, including familiarity with Pyxis, CII Safe, and related regulatory practices
• Ability to follow and support compliance with hospital, state, and federal controlled substance regulations

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.

The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
