Associate Accountant I (Part-time)

Develops, prepares, and analyzes financial and operating data while performing a variety of accounting duties in the Corporate Accounting and Finance Department.

Account Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, to include the administration and payment of corporate credit cards - Processing of various cash requests to move funds within the Nelnet Special Purpose Corporations (SPC’s) and Nelnet Operating companies - Reconcile accounts, research and resolve all outages and outstanding items within corporate standards - Work with internal departments, as well as outside agencies, on various accounting issues - Provide information to other areas of the company - Process and distribute reports as necessary and effectively communicate appropriate information to Accounting Management - Provide backup support for various functions within the department, as directed by management - Ensure Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance and adherence to all accounting policies and procedures

EDUCATION : Associate degree preferred or commensurate experience EXPERIENCE : 1 to 2 years of accounting experience, reconciling experience, analytical experience.

COMPETENCIES SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES : Attention to detail, 10-key adding machine (8,000 10,000 / hr), strong math skills, strong spreadsheet skills, good judgment, analysis skills, Strong oral and written skills, Self-starter

This is a part-time position, 20-30 hours a week

Pay Range $20 /
