Brick Mason II
General Description
The purpose of this position is to provide skilled masonry work to construct or repair tile, brick, or stone surfaces throughout the UM campus.
Essential Job Duties 1. Read and use blueprints, sketches, or drawings for specifications and dimensions for the masonry work.
2. Manually or machine mixes mortar, plaster or grout.
3. Prepares work surfaces using shovels, hammers, rebar, pliers, etc
4. Perform tear-down of old structures or objects, following specifications and dimensions in the installation, repair, modification, or maintenance of walls, floors, streets, sidewalks, showers, foundations, and other masonry jobs both inside and outside buildings as well as special jobs not related to buildings.
5. Locates and transports supplies, materials, and tools to the job site.
6. Arrange and store materials, machines, tools, and equipment; perform routine maintenance and minor repairs as needed to hand and power tools as directed.
7. Applies caulk, sealants, or other agents to an installed surface.
8. Cleans installation surfaces, equipment, tools, and work sites using water, chemical solutions, or machines
9. Arrange or prepare staging, scaffolds, ladders, and related equipment for safety in all masonry projects.
10. Removes damaged, broken, or unused tile brick or mortar.

Advanced knowledge and skills in masonry trade
Basic knowledge of carpentry trade
Knowledge of basic equipment, grinders, skill saw, drill, and chipping hammer
Ability to use basic hand tools
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position
Ability to work on-call and before / after normal business hours as needed Education and Experience The educational requirement for this position is : High School Diploma or GED
