ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Working under the Controller and in full coordination with the Associate Director of Operations, this position will work out of our MAAC North Campus office.

As a Fiscal Manager within MAAC's dynamic Child Development Program, this position will lead the financial stewardship for the program, ensuring every dollar propels our mission forward.

This position will coordinate and collaborate with Child Development Program leadership and administrative staff to streamline financial processes and ensure efficient use of resources : The role includes : Supporting fiscal responsibility by preparing and maintaining the Child Development Program budget, aligning resources with program goals, and optimizing financial processes throughout the grant cycle.

Strong leadership abilities, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of government funding regulations Producing internal and external financial reports for funding sources and regulatory agencies, showcasing our commitment to transparency and impact.

Providing regular reports and recommendations describing the financial performance of CDP departments, programs, and Head Start sites to CDP leadership.

Navigating fiscal monitoring protocols mandated by state and federal entities, ensuring compliance and integrity in financial operations.

Collaborating closely with Human Resources and Program Directors for seamless onboarding, grant allocation reporting, and strategic resource alignment.

Presenting actionable financial insights to MAAC Board and Policy Council, driving informed decisions and impactful outcomes.

Preparing for State and Federal Audits, embodying excellence and accountability in financial management. Ensuring accuracy and compliance in expenses and encumbrances, maintaining meticulous records and fulfilling program contractual requirements with precision.

Supervising a dedicated team in generating insightful financial reports and conducting queries, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Upholding strong internal controls, analyzing cost data, and resolving technical accounting issues, ensuring sound financial practices across the program.

Cultivating effective communication with stakeholders, vendors, and contractors, embodying our commitment to collaboration and partnership.

Leading by example in embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the program, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required, with a passion for nonprofit financial management.

Minimum of three (3) years of progressive accounting work experience, preferably within a federally funded nonprofit environment.

Experience with Head Start and State Funded Pre-School Programs is highly valued. Proven supervisory experience, demonstrating leadership, mentorship, and a commitment to team development.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial software systems, with a knack for leveraging technology for impactful financial management.

Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, coupled with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts effectively.

Follows rules, regulations, and policies; positively contributes to implementing changes HEALTH STATUS Must have a physical examination, TB clearance and a drug screen by a doctor / clinic designated by MAAC as well as immunization records for influenza*, pertussis and measles as required by state and federal regulations prior to the first day of employment.

BACKGROUND CLEARANCE All positions are subject to a background / education check, DMV check, NSOR, exclusion and debarment checks prior to hire and periodically throughout employment as required by various funding sources.

Note : California Start law requires background criminal checks on anyone who works in a licensed childcare facility who is not a client.

Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance, signed criminal record statement, and signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form prior to the first day of employment.

TRANSPORTATION Must have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, daily use of a personal, insured vehicle, and have and maintain a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to MAAC’s insurance carrier.
