About The Position
Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery
Location : Santa Fe , New Mexico
Shift : 7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM
Start Date : ASAP
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery is a skilled clinical professional responsible for coordinating and providing high-quality, patient-centered care specific to the obstetric population. The RN ensures safe, effective, and compassionate care in accordance with the unit’s standards, hospital policies, and the organization’s mission and values. The nurse collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and families to promote optimal patient outcomes while maintaining a respectful and professional environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education :
Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
Licensure & Certifications :
Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association only).
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required.
All certifications must be current at time of hire and maintained without lapse.
Skills & Competencies
Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills appropriate for maternal and neonatal patient populations.
Knowledgeable and sensitive to patient rights in the delivery of care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Ability to perform under stress, prioritize tasks, and respond to emergencies efficiently.
Experience
Prior experience in Labor and Delivery, OB, or Women’s Health preferred.
New graduates may be considered depending on unit needs and orientation support.
Supervision
Reports To : Patient Care Director or Nurse Manager
Work Environment
Exposure Classification :
Bloodborne Pathogen C (OR, PACU, L&D)
Bloodborne Pathogen B (Other Patient Care Areas)
Exposure to infectious diseases, body fluids, and radiologic materials.
Work performed in a clean, well-lit, ventilated, and smoke-free environment.
May experience stressful situations or emergency responses requiring quick decision-making and composure.
Physical Requirements
Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations effectively.
Requires extensive standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, and lifting.
Must be able to position, push, and transfer patients or equipment as needed.
Must have normal or correctable vision and hearing.
Requires manual dexterity and fine motor coordination for clinical tasks.
