Director, Donor Family Services

The Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency (LAORA) is currently seeking a full time Director, Donor Family Services to work in Miami. The Director, Donor Family Services directs the resources available to optimize the organ referral and authorization process. This position directs the organ referral, triage, and donor family services areas. It reports to the Sr. Clinical Director and collaborates with the Quality Director, Strategic Operations Director, Hospital Development Manager, and the Medical Director. This position holds responsibility for the managers and teams of the Donor Family Advocates and In-House Coordinators.

Core duties include :

• Directing both referral intake and onsite response, optimizing systems and workflows to ensure no opportunity for donation is missed.
• Collaborating with the quality department to identify and implement improvements to the death record review process.
• Working with approach staff and leadership to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
• Coordinating with Clinical Managers and Administrators on Call to ensure resources are deployed to maximize approach and authorization opportunities.
• Collaborating with Hospital Development to build and maintain strong relationships with hospital partners to foster seamless donation opportunities.
• Ensuring referral monitoring includes clinical assessments, hospital care plans, and family communication status.
• Updating policies and procedures and overseeing ongoing training of staff in receiving and evaluating incoming donor referral calls, determining medical suitability, and obtaining Donor Designation.
• Partnering with information technology staff to create relevant electronic reports to monitor trends and inform improvement strategies.
• Participating in national and / or regional workgroups to enhance authorization practices.
• Supporting and engaging with Hospital Services staff in various Hospital Development initiatives.
• Participating in the call schedule to ensure efficient operation of donation activities.
• Establishing and continuously assessing the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
• Ensuring employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
