POSITION SUMMARY :

The Support Education and Employment (SEE) specialist will assist clients within the clinic to develop and follow through with their career or educational development plan.

Department : Wellness and Recovery After Psychosis (WRAP) Program, Psychiatry

Schedule : Full Time

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES :

Responsibilities include the following : collaborate with patients to reach their employment and educational goals, evaluate potential barriers to school or work engagement, strategize with patients to cope with any cognitive difficulties that affect employment or educational goals, and participating in Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) weekly team meetings.

This position may involve providing specialized assistance in the area of career development and employment, including relicensing assistance, job readiness training, educational research coordination, employment search support, employment retention support, vocational rehabilitation and supported referrals.

Must be comfortable meeting in the community with clients to offer on-site academic and employment support. Perform other administrative tasks as needed such as attending administrative meetings, type notes in Microsoft Word, enter data in Microsoft Excel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION :

Bachelors plus 1- 2 years relevant experience. (Will also consider HS / GED plus 5 + years' experience or Associates plus 3+ years for applicants that have directly related experience and / or language skills that meet the needs of the patient population served).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :

Superior verbal / written English communication skills, including excellent grammatical, editing and proofreading skills.

Bilingual or multi-lingual skills appropriate to the patient population served is a plus.

  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact with potential and existing employers and to motivate program participants.
  • Must be comfortable working with people with serious mental illness (SMI), substance use disorders (SUD), various socioeconomic and situational backgrounds.
  • Ability to identify participants' needs and appropriate support services.
  • Strong problem solving skills, organizational skills and independent judgment.
  • Proven ability to work with confidential information.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
