Long Term Substitutes receive a daily rate of $125.00 for the first 20 days of work. Starting on the 21st day they are compensated at the daily rate for either a Bachelors ($344.82) or Masters ($370.56) level based on their qualifications for the remainder of their assignment.
Reading Specialists improve student achievement and learning by providing literacy leadership to staff in their classroom practices in literacy instruction curriculum and assessment. They provide instructional guidance and support to teachers and students in a student-learning environment that enables students to acquire skills appropriate to age grade level and individual capacity. They support all learners in meeting high expectations as well as provide on-going rigorous and relevant professional development to staff. Reading Specialists are team oriented educators who employ data-driven practices to directly target the instructional needs of all learners.
Qualifications and Skill Set :
- Elementary Certification (Elementary K-2 or 1-6 Special Education Reading Specialist)
- Knowledge of research-based best practices and interventions in literacy
- Ability to analyze student and school data
- Ability to effectively develop and deliver literacy professional learning
- Completion of or willingness to complete the following trainings :
- Wilson 3-Day
- Structured Literacy
