Job Title : Traffic Control Tech
Reports to : Traffic Control Manager
Position Summary : The Traffic Control Technician is responsible for traffic control functions including : Various types of traffic control setups and takedowns on a daily basis and may be called out for emergency work and out on weekends.
Work is performed independently with minimal supervision. Daily duties and assignments require the application of independent judgment, initiative, and decision making.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- To setup, maintain, service, takedown traffic control systems per M.U.T.C.D.
- Setups and takedowns for large events, parades, etc.
- Maintain of all required paperwork and notes on a daily basis.
- Communicate with dispatch constantly and allow them to know your location at all times and be ready to be called out to perform various job duties from dispatch.
- Keep trucks clean & help ensure truck maintenance is up to date by completing the daily truck maintenance checklist provided in each truck.
Notify the mechanic shop immediately if a service is due or if there are any safety concerns.
Ensure all delivery tags are filled out completely with correct quantities of items physically used and signed, print & dated by the customer.
If customer is not present during delivery, this is to be stated on the delivery tag, and then turned into the traffic control office to be either emailed or faxed to customer’s office for signature.
Provide assistance in the barricade shop. Repairing barricades, making & maintain signs and assist in any yard duties as assigned.
Summary of Experience and Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1-3 years traffic control / safety experience
- CA Drivers License and clean DMV record required.
- Certification as ATSSA Traffic Control Technician / Flagman
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of traffic control or work zone traffic control
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Exceptional detail and follow up skills
- Forklift experience / certification
Physical Demands :
- Must be able to stand and / or sit for extended periods of time
- Must be able to move in and around the area, up and down stairs, walking over uneven pavement, asphalt or dirt.
- Must be able to climb, lift, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
- Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception).
- May be exposed to extreme weather conditions such as extreme heat or cold / rain.
