General Description :

The Mechanic Master is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and incidental mechanical repairs on various company and customer mechanical rotating equipment.

Mechanics may be required to design, modify, and fabricate equipment to certain standards by request. This position will also perform a variety of facility maintenance and other responsibilities as directed.

Essential Duties & Job Functions :

  • Comply with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI while on shift, on call or attending training.
  • Demonstrate professional skills and capabilities equal to a Certified Mechanic.
  • Proficiency with problem solving and the ability to complete timely maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery including static and rotating mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct all routine and non-routine preventative maintenance (PM’s) on CCI / Kakivik and Customer’s equipment according to designated PM schedule, execute modifications and repairs as assigned.
  • Communicate daily status of current projects to supervisor to ensure all projects are timely and within CCI standards.
  • Ensure all equipment is always ready to dispatch and safe to use.
  • Maintain 100% Safety Standards and Accountability in all areas or mandatory / regulatory requirements, which include :
  • Compliance with required HSE training.
  • Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
  • Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns / incidents / issues promptly.
  • Facilitating or participating in CCI safety meetings, work safely and maintain a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI.
  • Willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
  • Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
  • Maintain and demonstrate proficient working knowledge of all response-related equipment, policies, procedures, and tactics always.
  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and organized work area.
  • Partner with coworkers to learn new skills and share knowledge.
  • Manage inventory of critical parts and supplies.
  • Welding and metal fabrication as needed.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, training, and exercises.
  • Self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of static and rotating mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions in detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and procedures.
  • Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, remote locations, and diversified personalities.
  • Skilled in interpersonal communication with the ability to work closely in a small shop environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to take online training, email general reports and use Microsoft Office Software.
  • Ability to clearly speak, write, read, and understand the English language .

Requirements

Required Qualifications :

  • 5-10 years’ experience working as a mechanic is required.
  • Previous welding experience is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Current Southwest Louisiana Safety Council Card or equivalent if working in other States.

Physical Requirements :

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

A pre-hire post offer physical will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • MOBILITY : Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push / pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
  • HEARING : Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • VISUAL ACUITY : Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
  • LIFTING : Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.

Shoveling up to 20 pounds.

RANGE OF MOTION : An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire / post offer FCE.
