Instructor of Industrial Technology
Job Summary
Full time position in the Industrial Technology Department will begin August . Must be able to teach on-campus. Responsibilities include teaching 12-15 hours per semester (27-30 hours per year) with the possibility of summer teaching assignment(s).
Instructional coursework will include a variety of Industrial Technology related areas. In addition, assisting with the departmental assessment process, academic mentoring / tutoring, participation in scholarly activities, service to the university, the profession, and the community and fulfilling university responsibilities as needed are requirements of this position.
Works collaboratively with the Department Chair or Dean for assigned courses. Promotes student success through development of program learning outcomes and course learning outcomes.
Proactive member of the Aggie CARE (Compassion, Accessible, Respect, Empathy) Community. Follows university policies and procedures, the university faculty handbook and teaching standards set forth by the university.
Instructors are evaluated each semester by students through course evaluations and undergo an annual faculty performance review.
Responsibilities
- Completes mandatory university virtual training sessions such as Title IX.
- Other duties as assigned Department Chair, Associate, and / or Dean of the College of Business and Technology, or designee.
- Conducts themselves as positive role models by incorporating ethical and socially responsible behaviors and mindset expected of professionals.
Professionalism should be observed during all interactions with students, faculty, staff, and university and take into consideration one's presence on social media sites.

- Maintains a strong interest in the pursuit of knowledge and shares it with students and faculty. Engages in professional development (with the university and / or outside the university), documents professional development in the universitys faculty credentialing software.
- Replies to emails from students, Associate Dean, and Dean in timely manner.
- Participates in department, college, university meetings, and commencement.
- Assists in gathering data and writing reports for assessment and HLC accreditation.
- Demonstrates excellence in teaching by use of high-level inquiry style questions and incorporation of effective teaching and learning tools.
Caters to diverse learning styles by using a mixture of text, video, audio, demonstrations, assignments, and / or enrichment activities to successfully deliver course content and help students better understand concepts.
- Collaborates with OPSUs instructional designer to ensure courses satisfy instructor-student engagement, Higher Learning Commission and Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education assessment standards.
- Promotes student success through advising, mentoring, monitoring and evaluating students academic progress and making appropriate referrals using the universitys retention software.
- Adheres to reporting student attendance, following grading criteria, and providing detailed student feedback according to standards set by the university.
- Posts mid-term and final grades within requested timelines designated by the Registrar.
- Develops and updates course syllabi; adheres to the universitys syllabi template.
- Supervises and maintains laboratories and equipment.
- Teaching assignments may include the areas of drafting, woodworking, PLC, welding, electricity, auto mechanics, metal machining, construction, or other INDT areas as needed.
Qualifications
- Required : Professional experience, industrial certifications, and teaching experience in the areas of drafting, woodworking, PLC, welding, electricity, auto mechanics, metal machining, construction, or other INDT areas
- Preferred : Masters degree in an Industrial Technology field preferred from a regionally accredited university. Previous collegiate teaching experience preferred.
