Job description

Major Purpose

Provides support for and / or assistance with products or engineering processes. Technicians at this level typically plan and perform appropriate tests using existing procedures for process control and failure analysis, provide support for products or engineering processes and routine analyses for materials, manufacturing process and methods, provide problem identification and resolution, root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, reliability analysis and verification / validation test plan development. Provides guidance on test procedures to engineers and support personnel. Requires greater knowledge and understanding of lab testing equipment and technologies.

Major Duties

  • Maintain and repair plant and machinery and supervise the work of team members and contractors to ensure that the plant and machinery meet operational requirements, including conformance with regulatory and organizational health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Help to install complex systems and conduct inspections of equipment with guidance.
  • Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.
  • Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Extract and combine data to generate standard reports.
  • Support others by carrying out a range of product development and engineering activities, such as analyzing client situations or interpreting data.
  • Find the most effective ways to respond to routine functional inquiries. Involves following procedures and precedents.
  • Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
  • Design owns monthly schedule and, if necessary, assign work to others in order to speed up office workflow and ensure high-priority tasks get done.
  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

    Responsibilities

  • Technical build assembly.
  • Production design updates, design for manufacturing.
  • Develop and provide external documentation to 3rd party manufacturer.
  • Work with electrical hardware designers to specify size / shape, connectorization, indicators, and user inputs to circuit card assemblies.
  • Wired assembly integration / box build.
  • Fault / debug.
  • CCA programming.
  • System checkout & test.
  • Optical assembly, alignment, and focusing.
  • Support production schedule planning.
  • Flight testing.
  • Document checkout test results.
  • Ensure delivery of defect-free product.
  • Ensure sufficient material supply to support production.
  • Perform diagnostic analysis and repair of damaged equipment.
  • Perform fault investigation / resolution of products.
  • Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics
  • Proficient in PTC Creo (minimum of 1 year experience)
  • Part 107 certification acquired within three months of employment
  • Ability to interpret requirements independently
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work constructively within a team
  • Highly motivated
  • Ability to scope efforts and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Additional Details Regarding Role

  • Change management facilitation regarding documentation between production and the engineering staff., IE Drawings, Design updates, ect. internally and externally
  • Liaison between the engineering staff regarding questions and recommendations on new or existing products.
  • Contract manufacturer point of contact (POC) and will handle all technical data package documentation for assemblies
  • Will facilitate, review implement all Quality Assurance processes with the Contract manufacture.
  • Highest priority within work load will be to supplement production assembly builds for customer orders.
  • Manager Notes

    Would like to see candidates with previous assembly / production backgrounds. Must be willing to learn. Need to have mechanical aptitude. Manager is open to recent graduates.

    Work Environment

  • Approximately 75% of the day spent on feet.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel

  • May be required to travel using a personal vehicle.
  • Travel will be within a 30-mile radius of the facility.
