Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) leads the overall operations of a Salt & Straw shop, ensuring it runs efficiently, meets brand standards, and delivers outstanding guest experiences. The GM creates a safe, positive work environment, drives performance, and embodies the company’s mission, vision, and values.
Essential Functions
- Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, payroll, banking, supplies procurement, inventory, and product quality assurance.
- Ensure consistent compliance with operational standards, safety, and health regulations.
- Manage labor costs and align with budget expectations to drive profitability.
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain a high‑performing team, including AGMs, Shift Coordinators, and Scoopers.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities to team members.
- Lead by example in delivering outstanding guest service and ensuring every guest feels welcomed and delighted.
- Communicate company updates and initiatives, representing shop needs and feedback to other departments.
- Resolve guest complaints promptly, using them to improve service quality.
- Drive sales and financial performance through effective leadership, goal setting, and strategic decision‑making.
- Engage with the local community to build strong relationships and drive brand awareness.
- Support community events and local marketing activations aligned with Salt & Straw’s mission and values.
- Identify, follow up on repair and maintenance opportunities, collaborating with District Managers and Facilities leadership for timely completion.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, food safety standards, health and safety regulations, and local laws.
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and inviting for guests and team members.
- Taste daily, sampling different ice cream flavors to communicate flavor appeal to customers.
- Foster a positive work environment through open communication, coaching, and a strong focus on Salt & Straw values.
Qualifications
High school diploma / GED.3+ years of experience in food service, fast‑casual dining, or hospitality.2+ years of progressive leadership experience (manager / supervisor).1+ year of experience leading a team of 10+ members in a high‑volume retail / restaurant setting.Valid Manager Food Safety Certification (required within 30 days of employment).Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, motivate, and manage high‑performing teams.Ability to work with people of all backgrounds and identities.Strong business acumen focused on sales growth, cost control, and profitability.Passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences and leading with integrity.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with effective communication and rapport building at all levels.Self‑directed with strong organizational, problem‑solving, and prioritization skills under pressure and changing priorities.Thrives in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with a hands‑on approach.Excellent collaboration and communication skills, bringing Legendary Hospitality into all interactions with team, direct reports, and guests.Proficiency in MS Office.Fluency in English.Availability for evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.Benefits & Perks
