The Manufacturing Turning Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting precision machining processes within the CNC lathe (turning) department. This role focuses on maintaining and improving productivity, quality, and efficiency across all turning operations. The engineer will collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure that manufacturing processes meet customer requirements and company standards for safety, quality, and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for CNC turning, providing guidance on programming, tooling, machine setup, and process optimization.
• Training & Mentorship Develop and deliver training for production and engineers, strengthening the organizations technical capability in CNC turning and lathe operation.
• Problem Solving Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement projects to eliminate defects, reduce downtime, and improve productivity.
• Process Development & Optimization Design, develop, and optimize CNC turning processes (Swiss, multi-spindle, conventional lathes) to achieve precision, repeatability, and efficiency.
• Technology Advancement Stay current with advancements in CNC turning, tooling, and control systems. Evaluate and implement new technologies that improve performance, reduce cost, and enhance stability.
• New Product Introduction (NPI) Support quoting, process design, and validation for new products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and scalability.
• Collaboration Partner with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure reliable machine operation, process capability, and quick resolution of production challenges.
• Team Engagement Actively participate in problem-solving and improvement activities, fostering open communication and teamwork across departments.
• Mentorship Demonstrated ability to mentor and collaborate across teams and sites.
