The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for performing electrical engineering design, planning, development, and technical management of assigned, simple to moderately complex engineering projects with some oversight.
This position will be located in Appleton, WI or Houston, TX with requirements to travel up to 50% of the time. Candidates must be local to the area or willing to relocate for this position. Relocation assistance may be provided.
This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
Overview

Responsibilities
- Primary contact for all technical inquiries and interface for assigned projects.
- Aid in project management by overseeing technical aspects of all bid packs / bidding process.
- Help project managers identify scope, track costs / schedule, ensure standards / quality are being met throughout duration of project.
- Provide electrical cost estimates for new construction and maintenance projects.
- Direct and / or develop design concepts and models from product specifications within cost and budget goals.
- Coordinate all engineering efforts to meet budget and schedule for assigned projects.
- Provide quality assurance on all projects.
- Mark up as built redlines to drawings upon completion of projects.
- Read and review P&IDs and electrical drawings such as one-line diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, instrument wiring diagrams.
- Create electrical layout and design drawings of power, control, and communication systems using AutoCAD products (AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Plant 3D).
- Specify power distribution equipment (transformers, switchgear, OCPDs, power cables), motor control equipment (contactor, overloads, soft starts, VFDs), and Instrumentation & Control equipment (PLCs, HMI, level / flow / pressure devices).
- Apply NFPA 70 to designs to ensure compliance from permitting to final inspections.
- Design, implement, retrofit, and program PLCs using RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, and Studio 5000.
- Integrate networking and field devices using Ethernet / IP, Modbus TCP / IP, Modbus RTU / RS-485 / RS-232, radio, and fiber optic communications.
- Design, implement, and maintain SCADA systems.
- Design and implement HMIs using software such as Wonderware InTouch, C-more, and FactoryTalk View (Allen-Bradley PanelView).
- Monitor and analyze equipment and system performance using data queries and trends.
- Provide on-call support with maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment and system failures.
- Perform calculations and review / approve drawing packages and calculations.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure quality output.
- Maintain the drawing database and vault to ensure a consolidated record of all projects.
- Collaborate with engineering management and project engineers on problems and questions arising on projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
