Position Objective :
We are seeking a Regional Security Director for our Yuma region, responsible for the overall operations. This individual will oversee the security of all properties in the region for the company. The Security Director will report to the Covey Security Executive Director with additional reporting responsibilities to our clients.
As the Director of Security, you will :
Establish and communicate a clear vision for the staff that is focused on providing professional security services, exceptional customer service and regulatory compliance and is aligned with customer objectives. Establishes and implements short and long-range goals and objectives, policies, processes, and operating procedures. Monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness and department goals. Is accountable for effecting changes required for improved results and to ensure that projects and implementations of security objectives are met in a timely manner.
Essential Job Duties :
- Position requires the management skills necessary to effectively manage, train and motivate 50+ security officers, supervisors and managers.
- Be responsible for directing the development, implementation, and monitoring of the regional security program.
- Collaborates with Senior Leadership to design, develop, implement and update (as needed) programs, policies and procedures Ensures the emergency response plan complies with all applicable local, state and federal regulations and that all staff are educated to the plan.
- Demonstrates the communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to interact tactfully with clients, as well as outside agencies (such as police and fire departments and municipal, state and Federal agencies).
- Requires solid organization, planning, analytical, decision making, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Requires the ability to effectively execute verbal and written communications. Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills (including email, word processing and spreadsheets). Also requires the ability to effectively utilize the security and hospital computer systems and programs.
- Holds self and team members accountable for quality outcomes and continuous quality improvement.
- Meet all contractual scheduled hours with a minimum of unbilled overtime. Provides appropriate development opportunities to ensure staff is competent in performing their assigned functions and continually improving their performance. Communicates expectations, provides ongoing coaching / feedback.
Qualifications
Minimum :
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, healthcare security, criminal justice, security management, safety management or related field is preferred and / or professional industry related experience and skills listed below.MUST have either Law enforcement or military background.
Five (5) years of experience as a number one or two running a large security department, prior law enforcement or military service.Current driver's AZ license issued by the state with satisfactory DMV report on file; (2) current state issued security officer license, showing no disciplinary actions; (3) workplace violence training annually.Must be able to speak English, communicate clearly orally, and in writing; understand and use de-escalation techniques. Bilingual (Spanish) fluency helpful. Demonstrated critical thinking skills.Completion of IAHSS Basic and Supervisor Level Training for Healthcare Security within 90 days, and American Heart Association CPR / BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.Prior experience training security staff in competencies, including verbal de-escalation management training preferred.Previous experience using a business office suite, such as Microsoft Office, is required.
