Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to managers and facility-level staff on all aspects of EHS compliance. Lead the site in ensuring adherence to operational permitting requirements and oversight of monitoring activities, including the facility's air permit, x-ray dosimetry program, stormwater permit, and wastewater discharge permits.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with federal, state, and local authorities (e.g., OSHA, EPA, fire department, NJDEP, local sewer authority, etc.) on behalf of the site.
  • Interface with local regulators during site visits, coordinating audit requests and documentation for permit renewals, stormwater management plans, and SPCC / DPCC plan reviews. Partner with third-party consultants to manage sampling, form submittals, permit renewals, and reporting activities.
  • Lead site regulatory audits and responses.
  • Lead the collection and analysis of data for regulatory reporting requirements, including Tier II, Form R, RPPR, stormwater reports, DMRs, Emissions Statements, compliance certifications, Excess Emissions reports, and other site-specific reports. Prepare submittals and review with the Environmental & Sustainability Sr. Manager to ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain the site's regulatory compliance deliverables and lead the site team in training and timely execution to meet corporate targets / KPIs.
  • Conduct and document inspections for SPCC, waste storage, stormwater outfalls, etc., to meet permit requirements at the site.
  • Manage and maintain a strong understanding of wastewater treatment operations, and coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure full compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Lead spill response planning, fire prevention initiatives, and emergency preparedness by developing and conducting simulated drills and training exercises.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs aligned with RCRA requirements for Large Quantity Generator (LQG) facilities, including proper labeling, storage, and disposal practices. Provide training to site personnel on environmental procedures, waste management, and spill response.
  • Lead the site team in conducting EHS reviews of all operational and equipment changes prior to implementation, ensuring proper machine commissioning and thorough hazard assessments are completed.
  • Execute the Manufacturing Division's overall EHS strategy in line with the overall Associated Materials EHS Vision and Strategy and align site safety objectives with business goals to enhance operational effectiveness at the site.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to promote a safety-first EHS culture throughout the facility. Engage with executive leadership, managers, and frontline employees to cultivate a shared commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement, integrating safety-first planning across all phases of work.
  • Lead and inspire action in dynamic and rapidly changing business conditions; drive proactive change through effective communication and leadership.
  • Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent incidents, injuries, and occupational hazards through in-depth use of data analytics and reporting.
  • Manage site EHS KPIs and reporting metrics with leading and lagging indicators to proactively address risk factors and drive operational accountability throughout the site.
  • Lead cultural change to embrace new and improved EHS programs and policies within the site.
  • Drive robust incident reporting mechanisms, lead the team in conducting thorough incident investigations, and identify causal factors and corrective actions to prevent recurrence at the site.
  • Systematically lead the site team in EHS risk assessments and implementation of risk mitigation measures to drive continuous EHS improvement at the site.
