Position Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic to join our team at Durwood Greene. The ideal candidate will be experienced in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy trucks, construction equipment, and support machinery. This role is essential to keeping our operations running safely and efficiently, and requires someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to quality work.
Core Duties :
- Inspect and diagnose : Perform routine inspections and use diagnostic tools to identify malfunctions in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Repair and replace : Repair or replace worn or damaged parts, such as bearings, pistons, hoses, and major components including engines and transmissions.
- Maintain : Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, including lubrication, fluid checks, oil and filter changes, and general adjustments.
- Field service : Travel to worksites to perform on-site repairs when equipment cannot be transported to the shop.
- Overhaul and rebuild : Disassemble, overhaul, and reassemble major components and systems as required.
Essential Skills and Knowledge :
Technical knowledge : Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and various heavy equipment types and models.Problem-solving : Ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair methods.Tool proficiency : Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and specialized diagnostic devices.Physical fitness : Ability to lift heavy parts, work in awkward or confined positions, and perform duties in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.Recordkeeping : Maintain accurate logs of inspections, repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities.Welding : Ability to weld, cut, or solder as needed for repairs or fabrication.Work Environment :
Work is primarily performed in a shop with occasional travel to job sites.Exposure to noise, dust, grease, weather, and mechanical or electrical hazards.Physical demands include lifting, climbing, bending, and working in tight or elevated spaces.Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED.Minimum two (2) years of experience in heavy equipment or truck repair.Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required.Must have basic personal tools; specialty tools provided by the company.Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or nights as needed for operations.Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.Benefits :
