Director of Origination

Position Overview :

As the Director of Origination for a biogas development company, you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth by identifying, evaluating, and securing new biogas project opportunities.

Leveraging your industry expertise and market knowledge, you will lead the origination process, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies that align with the company’s goals.

Your ability to cultivate relationships, identify potential partners, and negotiate agreements will be essential to the success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities :

• Business Development : Identify and assess potential biogas project opportunities by conducting market research, analyzing industry trends, and understanding regulatory frameworks.
• Relationship Building : Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including project developers, investors, regulators, and technology providers, to enhance the company’s network and drive project origination.
• Market Analysis : Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify gaps and opportunities in the biogas sector.
• Deal Evaluation : Lead the due diligence process for potential projects, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and feasibility studies, to determine the viability of projects.
• Proposal Development : Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling proposals and presentations that showcase the benefits and potential of biogas projects to potential partners and investors.
• Negotiation : Negotiate project agreements, partnerships, and contracts to secure mutually beneficial terms for the company and its stakeholders.
• Pipeline Management : Manage the project pipeline, tracking progress, updating documentation, and providing regular reports to senior management.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with legal, finance, engineering, and operations teams to ensure alignment and smooth transition from project origination to execution.
• Strategy Development : Contribute to the strategic planning process by providing insights on market dynamics, potential growth areas, and innovative approaches to project origination.
• Industry Advocacy : Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums to establish thought leadership and promote the company’s brand.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (engineering, business, environmental science, etc.); MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
• Proven track record in business development, origination, or sales within the renewable energy or biogas sector.
• Strong understanding of biogas technology, project development lifecycle, and regulatory landscape.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to foster relationships and influence key stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to assess financial feasibility and risk factors of potential projects.
• Leadership experience and the ability to guide cross-functional teams towards common goals.
• Results-oriented and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, partners, and attend industry events.
