Title : Accountant III, Financial Reporting

Under general supervision, performs high-level accounting functions to support the Financial Reporting operations for DeKalb County School District (DCSD).

Essential Functions :

• Assists with the fulfillment of financial audit requests in association with the completion of the annual financial audit from the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts
• Assists with the compilation and review of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), as assigned, including review of the Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and Schedule of Federal Expenditures (SEFA)
• Ensures audit readiness by performing substantive sampling and test of controls, as assigned
• Advises the Director of Financial Reporting on department matters and recommended improvements in control and reporting structures
• Assists with the coordination, preparation, and fulfillment of salary recalculations as requested as part of the annual financial audit
• Assists with the preparation of various audit schedules in support of the district’s annual financial audit, such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Prepares reconciliations of general ledger accounts to help ensure accuracy in postings, as needed
• Performs advanced analysis of posted general ledger activity to compare to previous periods, established benchmarks, or other metrics as designed
• Coordinates the fulfillment and submission of Charter School DE46 Trial Balance Data to be included as part of the District’s overall ledger submission;

assists with the fulfillment of financial requests from the Georgia Department of Education

• Provides backup for the Director of Financial Reporting in the review of monthly financial statements
• Assists other Finance departments with the completion reports, spend reports, analysis, and monthend / year-end close as requested by various managers
• Participates successfully in the training programs offered to increase the individual’s skill and proficiency related to the assignments
• Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related area from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university required.
• Minimum three years of professional-level accounting or closely related experience required.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or CPA track candidate or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), preferred.
