Job descriptionPatient Demographics : Adults and Geriatrics Admissions : Yes Rounding : Included (with APP support) Phone Consults : Yes Case Mix : Inpatient surgical cases, consults, pre & postoperative rounding, emergent OR cases Specialty / Department : Cardiothoracic Surgery Specialty Backup Available : CVICU, Surgical PA, APPs Support Staff Available : APPs, PAs Reason for Coverage : Ongoing coverage need Hospital Privileges Required : Yes Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance : Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES Inpatient surgical cases Pre & postoperative rounding Emergent OR coverage Inpatient consults Licenses : Active Florida medical license Board : Board Eligible / Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery DEA : Active DEA Certification Certifications : As applicable (BLS, ACLS) Experience : Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery required Other Qualifications : Must provide case logs (past 12 months only, HIPAA compliant / de-identified); NPDB report within 3 months Perform inpatient consults, surgical cases, and pre & postoperative rounding Collaborate with APPs for consult notes and progress documentation (surgeon must add and cosign) Provide weekend coverage for rounding and emergent OR cases (approx. 1 weekend / month) Participate in night call rotation (4 : 30p 7 : 00a) with equitable distribution among surgeons Respond to floor patient needs, ER calls, and CVICU requests as needed
