Job description

Job Position : Kennel Assistant / Pet Daycare Assistant (Full-Time or Part-Time).

COMPENSATION :

$12 to $16 per hour, commensurate with job-related experience, skills, and training.

WHO WE'RE SEEKING :

For general descriptive purposes only, as actual job duties may vary and are subject to change due to changing business or patient needs, and may include other duties as needed :

Experience in a kennel, animal boarding / daycare facility, or veterinary environment is preferred, but not required.

Daily tasks include feeding and cleaning up after animals (including dogs, cats, exotic pets, birds, horses, and both large and small farm animals); cleaning kennels and habitats; supervising dogs and other pets during play times; laundry; bathing and grooming dogs and cats; administering medications (including via subcutaneous injection after training); walking and observing dogs outdoors; cleaning cat litter; transporting animals to and from kennels, exam rooms, the lobby, and clients' vehicles; sanitation and janitorial duties throughout the facility, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, organizing, and general cleaning; observing patients for signs of discomfort or medical concern; frequently documenting observations and work performed in electronic medical records software; immediately informing Veterinarians of suspected medical concerns; etc.

Kennel Assistants and Pet Daycare Assistants serve as a second set of eyes for the Veterinarians and other staff. Emerging concerns regarding a patient's health may be noticed first by the Kennel Assistants and Pet Daycare Assistants. Accordingly, Kennel Assistants and Pet Daycare Assistants must have a keen detail orientation, work well both independently and under guidance, and demonstrate initiative in completing daily tasks. Following through on detailed instructions is essential.

As a key player in ensuring animals are fed and cared for, Kennel Assistants and Pet Daycare Assistants directly contribute to the health, hygiene, and well-being of patients. Since patients rely on Kennel Assistants to attend to their essential needs, punctuality and reliability are essential.

About Campeche Cove All Animal Hospital :

Campeche Cove All Animal Hospital (CCAAH) is located in the beautiful island-city of Galveston, easily accessible to all parts of the island and other cities throughout Galveston County, plus a simple 45-minute drive to the bustling metropolis of Houston!

Our home-like facility has a beautiful outdoor deck that faces protected wetlands full of birds and wildlife. Just on the other side of the wetlands is the ocean, which is an easy 5-minute drive away!

We don't work overnight hours, and our facility houses radiography, dental radiography, cautery, and ultrasound equipment, as well as a high-speed dental unit and a well-equipped lab for blood, urine, and fecal analysis.

We are locally-owned, with firmly established roots in the community. While the majority of our patients are companion animals (dogs and cats), we also see birds, exotic pets, and even occasional farm animals.
