POSITION SUMMARY
The Finance Director - Life & Investment Division plays a strategic leadership role in overseeing all financial operations related to life insurance and investment-linked products. This role is responsible for enhancing and streamlining financial processes, ensuring regulatory and audit compliance, supporting pricing and underwriting strategies, and leading financial integration and reporting initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on financial leader with strong analytical capabilities and deep knowledge of the insurance and investment landscape.
This position will also oversee the implementation of financial systems and digital tools to support the automation, control, and scalability of the new Life & Investment Division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
- Develop and refine financial processes to improve automation, accuracy, and efficiency in areas such as policyholder payments, claims funding, investment transactions, and routine accounting operations.
- Design and manage complex financial procedures related to policyholder transactions, premium billing, commissions, and fund allocations for investment-linked products (e.g., segregated funds, unit-linked accounts).
- Oversee the integration of new financial processes across departments for product launches, investment platform changes, or system enhancements.
- Collaborate with internal teams (actuarial, product, investments) to ensure alignment of pricing, valuation, and financial reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across departments to ensure cohesive and accurate financial operations.
- Oversee compliance with internal and external audits, tax filings, and regulatory requirements, including statutory reporting for life and investment products.
- Manage commission structures, payouts, and rebates in alignment with product profitability and regulatory requirements.
- Lead client billing processes, ensuring consistency, data integrity, and process improvement for both life and investment-based policy billing.
- Coordinate and monitor internal controls and accounting practices, resolving discrepancies and ensuring financial accuracy.
- Support underwriting teams by providing financial insights on product pricing, risk assessment, and profitability analysis.
- Lead the financial side of product or system transitions, conversions, and implementations.
- Oversee financial elements of investment operations, including tracking of fund performance, fee structures, and policyholder allocations.
- Ensure transparent and proactive communication with executive management and cross-functional leadership.
- Lead financial oversight and collaboration with the asset management partner, including negotiation and contract execution, onboarding, operational integration, investment selection, performance evaluation, and ongoing relationship management to ensure alignment with the division's strategic and profitability goals.
- Oversee the selection, contracting, and operational integration of the custodian company, ensuring robust controls, data and reporting consistency, and effective governance of custody operations and investment administration.
- Partner with the actuarial team in the design and negotiation of reinsurance structures and agreements, supporting capital optimization, liquidity management, and long-term profitability objectives.Lead the design and documentation of all financial workflows and controls related to the new division, ensuring compliance and operational readiness prior to launch.
- Collaborate closely with IT and systems teams to define financial system requirements, support testing (UAT), and validate integrations with policy administration and investment platforms.
- Provide financial leadership for the division's digitalization efforts, focusing on automation of reporting, reconciliation, and data analytics.
Other Responsibilities

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.10-15 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the life insurance or investment industry.Strong knowledge of insurance accounting, regulatory reporting (e.g., statutory, GAAP, IFRS), and investment-linked product mechanics.Proven experience in financial systems integration, automation, and process improvement.Excellent analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.Familiarity with commission systems, policy admin platforms, and investment reporting tools.Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experience supporting or managing asset management and custodian partnerships preferred.Experience in financial systems implementation, data migration, and UAT preferred.Knowledge of capital forecasting, reinsurance accounting, and financial controls for new entity setup is a plus.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
