Senior Product Manager, Mapping

Waymo's Product Management Team is a mission-driven team responsible for writing and enacting first-of-their-kind playbooks to bring fully autonomous driving technology to market. Our team develops simple solutions for complex problems by orchestrating cross-functional efforts to safely drive Waymo's technology and the products it enables forward. We do this by understanding the customer, the business, and the technology. We are humble about the scope of our work, collaborative in our approach to problem-solving, and ambitious about our vision for the future.

In this role, you will report to a Director of Product Management

You will :

• Play a critical role in making Waymo's AV maps as useful as possible by creating software, processes, and metrics that augment the representation of the world with incredibly useful information that lets onboard and offboard models and teams talk to one another
• Manage a geospatial database of information that improves the Waymo Drivers' understanding of the world around it
• Own portions of the software that lets Waymo vehicles "talk to" each other both instantaneously and with persistent messages
• Create infrastructure and logic that manages tradeoffs like the credibility of data provenance against the freshness of newer, less validated data. This is an example articulating other tradeoffs and managing them will be an important challenge
• Work with every onboard team and subteam, not to mention much of our offboard organization, to chart the strategic vision for software described above and arc the organization towards that vision
• Partner with teams to understand the impact positive and negative of the augmentations described above and create scalable governance structures, metrics, dashboards, and agreements to retain the positive while minimizing the negative

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
