POSITION SUMMARY :
To make a positive contribution and measurably impact grocery store sales by ensuring successful execution of Special Projects and Surge-team work in designated Kroger stores.
Coordinate the necessary staffing, training, scheduling and management of surge / temporary employees and their immediate supervisors responsible for timely and accurate completion of grocery store reset work.
Support divisions merchandising and facilities management efforts in a manner consistent with The Kroger Co. Mission and P.L. Marketing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain an appropriate staffing level of well-trained surge / temporary employees to ensure accurate completion of any special projects and grocery store resets (section plan-o-gram work) as scheduled
- Regularly audit, measure and report on the quality, timeliness and speed with which the work is completed
- Frequently communicate with Kroger store, zone and division management with status updates regarding ongoing special projects and / or grocery store resets
- Be their go-to person with any issues or questions related to surge-work and special projects
- Coordinate the selection, hiring and management of surge / temporary employees in a compliant, fair and effective manner consistent with the values and mission of both P.L. Marketing and Kroger
- Review weekly time and labor management reports to make certain all rules are being followed and scheduling is being adhered
- Ensure surge / temporary employees have the necessary tools, resources and updates / information, when needed, to complete the weekly reset as scheduled
- Follow-up to make sure surge / temporary employees are behaving in a professional, safe and courteous manner
- Direct the supervisors of each team to ensure any reporting is completed accurately and on time, that they are effectively communicating with Kroger store personnel, and all surge / temporary employees are being managed effectively
- Continually strive to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of surge / temporary employees through ongoing training, hands-on coaching and frequent feedback
- Provide customer assistance and have a working knowledge of Krogers Customer 1st Strategy
- Provide support and be a resource to both P.L. Marketing and Kroger division personnel as needed
- Continue to gain expertise in all facets of the grocery industry, especially in product placement, KOMPASS, surge / temporary, facilities management and supply-chain / stocking
- Help identify opportunities to increase sales of Kroger Corporate Brands with recommendations for new items, improved product placement, pricing / promotional opportunities and resolution for any stocking / supply issues
- Professionally and effectively represent P.L. Marketing with members of Kroger Management
- Must remain qualified as an insurable driver
- Overnight travel required

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :
- 4 Year college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 5 + years of retail grocery experience preferred
- Live reasonably close to the division office (+ / - 20 miles)
- Communicate (read, write and speak) fluent English
- Read, understand, develop and implement plan-o-grams
- Proficient Microsoft office applications including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Capacity to learn multiple computer systems and web based applications
- Strong leadership, coaching and management skills
- Capability to collaborate with others and contribute effectively to a team
- Excellent communication, organization and problem solving skills
- Highly motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize and multi-task
MINIMUM PHYSICAL ABILITIES :
- Must be able to : *
- remain sitting, continuously working at a desk for several hours at a time
- legally operate a motor vehicle unassisted
- remain standing and / or walking unassisted for several hours at a time
- lift, push or pull 50 lbs. or more on a regular basis and occasionally up to 70 lbs.
- continuously reach up and bend down, reach in all directions and have unlimited upper body mobility
- lift and extend 30 lbs. above the head, sometimes repeatedly
- have unlimited manual dexterity
- tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures (0-90 degrees)
DESIRED PREVIOUS JOB EXPERIENCE :
- Retail grocery store experience with strong employee supervision and management skills
- Experience hiring, training and providing ongoing direction to 10 + employees
