Overview of the Property Accountant Role

Perform property accounting responsibilities in a highly visible role, working directly with property managers and regional leadership.

Reconcile all balance sheet and applicable income statement accounts to ensure accuracy.

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and promptly record reconciling items.

Coordinate with the Treasury Manager to process monthly mortgage payments, distributions, and account transfers.

Perform and review month-end close activities, ensuring tenant ledgers align with the general ledger.

Monitor and maintain cash balances for assigned properties, submitting funding requests and approving bill payments as needed.

Ensure all monthly mortgage payments are completed and accurately recorded.

Collaborate with property managers and supervisors to produce high-quality financial statements for property owners.

Provide necessary documentation and support to external auditors during reviews.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

2+ years of property or real estate accounting experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs).

Experience with ResMan or similar property management software is a plus.

Ability to thrive in an environment with multiple priorities.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

Reliable follow-through and commitment to accuracy.
