Process Engineer (Chemical Engineer) – Quincy, MA area

Hours : Mon-Fri; 7am-3 : 30pm
Qualifications
- Degree / Experience : BS degree in Chemical Engineering; 1+ years of experience in manufacturing or chemical processing related industry
- MUST HAVES : Must understand heat transfer, fluid flow, pumping, piping, and instrumentation; GMP knowledge preferred; Programming experience preferred; Able to obtain TWIC certification; Read P&ID's and schematics; Ability to be reached by phone during off-shift hours in case of scheduling or emergency need; PPE usage and potential work in confined spaces
- Nice to Haves : Experience with continuous chemical processing in a high-hazard environment; ability to build rapport with operating, analytical, and maintenance technicians; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Duties / Responsibilities
Support new product and process commercializationMeasure product quality, process capability, and yield using statistical process control techniquesImprove process efficiencies including first pass quality, productivity, and safetyProvide plant support by coordinating and following new products with R&D from inception through product commercialization and full production handoff to operationsAchieve proficiency with key manufacturing unit operations via training with operators and engineersManage initiatives under the guidance of the Operations ManagerTroubleshoot plant process issues with technicians / operatorsDevelop process and procedure documentation and operator training materialsHelp develop and implement continuous improvement initiativesInvestigate downtime causes and provide recommendations to prevent recurrenceMaintain and foster collaboration between R&D, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Quality to share best practicesWork with Engineering to ensure safety, health, and environmental factors are considered throughout product development to commercializationDevelop and optimize continuous production and manufacturing processes to meet output, quality, and cost goalsRecommend changes or upgrades to equipment, methods, or other process aspects to improve efficiency and resource utilizationRef : #558-Scientific
