Job Description & Requirements

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for leading product strategy and management for Universal Kids Resort (UKR) through exploring, identifying, and evaluating market and customer-based growth, process, and development opportunities. Develop strategic models to evaluate opportunities and to determine optimal resource allocation. Collaboratively develops and leads to execution of marketing plans designed to appeal to target audiences, engage them, induce trial and compel repeat visitation as loyal guests. Supports hotel occupancy strategies, corporate and group sales alignment, partnerships with convention bureaus, and integration of hospitality trends into UKR’s roadmaps. By balancing family-focused leisure experiences with group and convention opportunities, this position ensures UKR remains competitive as both a resort destination and regional theme park. Provides key partnership and influence throughout Universal Destinations and Experiences Marketing & Sales to help ensure market and customer insights are leveraged to build and execute targeted sales and marketing plans against business objectives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the development, preparation, and consolidation of strategic analyses of Universal Kids Resort’s Marketing and Sales initiatives to optimize resource allocation of financial, human, and collateral resources. Identifies strategic product opportunities for short- and long-term growth, including tracking how markets and segments are evolving, involving brand, product and service opportunities, and analyzing external marketing trends as well as competitive actions. Responsible for developing product strategies and programs to maximize attendance, APV, and repeat visitation through fact-based analytics and drive hotel occupancy through targeted marketing campaigns and initiatives. Identifies and implements initiatives that strengthen the use of on-site hotel to increase awareness and incentives within the vacation planning process.
  • Assesses new business opportunities through researching and analyzing both internal and publicly available information, including competitive intelligence, and makes recommendations. Provides business insights based on rigorous, fact-based analyses of customer needs, competitive dynamics, and market trends and proactively shares with marketing and sales stakeholders. Identifies and creates metrics and models to allow for comparison of competing opportunities and ensure alignment with overall brand and segment strategies. Provides thought leadership and communicates network, strategies and learnings throughout the organization via email, meetings and presentations, with diverse audiences from hourly Team Members to C-Suite executives.
  • Manages efforts to identify, execute, and communicate integration and alignment opportunities domestically both within Marketing & Sales as well as with other local and portfolio divisions. Supports the annual planning and budgeting process for Marketing & Sales. Presents insights to internal and external stakeholders as needed, to ensure alignment of business strategy.
  • Oversees performance and responsibilities of direct reports and department. Cultivates direct reports with emphasis on company vision, aspired culture and values, consumer orientation, internal collaboration, innovation, staff development and retention. Collaborates within Marketing & Sales and throughout the Universal Destinations and Experiences organization to share insights and leverage synergies/best practices. Assists Director in the performance of other special duties and projects as needed in support of organizational goals.
  • Develops new product/services ideas and enhancements to exceed consumer expectations and differentiate the Universal brand. Leverages research data and conducts insightful analysis to influence Universal leadership to new levels of growth and/or profitability. Supports hotel marketing and sales strategics and products to maximize occupancy during defined theme park closure timeframes.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Supervises an Exempt team

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.

  • Manage projects and make recommendations with significant and far-ranging impact on the performance of the business.
  • Directly manage vendor relationships and indirectly influence executives and others across multiple Universal Destinations and Experiences locations.
  • Serves as a key consensus builder and collaborator within Marketing and Sales and within company overall regarding market and customer-based growth, development opportunities and challenges

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Mass Communications, or a related field is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of experience in Strategy & Development or a related field is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
