About the role!
As our Special Education Teacher, you'll plan and deliver engaging instruction based on Common Core Standards while helping students achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. You'll collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to create supportive learning environments where students with diverse needs can thrive. This position reports to the Behavior Program Manager.
As a Special Education Teacher, you will :
Design and implement dynamic, differentiated academic instruction that addresses each student's unique learning needsDevelop deep understanding of each student's learning profile through assessment and observation, creating targeted goals and instructional approaches to facilitate progressPartner with Behavior Specialists to implement our schoolwide Positive Behavior Training (PBT) management systemTrack student progress through formal and informal assessments, maintaining comprehensive portfolios and recordsLead meaningful parent-teacher conferences and maintain regular communication with familiesCreate and update IEP goals and progress summaries with clarity and insightPresent student progress and proposed goals at IEP meetings with confidence and expertiseAdminister California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress testingCo-facilitate weekly team meetings and provide direction to classroom assistantsParticipate in supervision and professional development opportunitiesAttend all required meetings and uphold school policies, educational codes, and confidentiality standardsMaintain your special education credential through continuing educationWhat we're looking for :
Passion for curriculum development and implementing effective instructional strategiesExpertise with assessment tools for identifying and supporting students with special needsCreativity in adapting curriculum to address diverse learning profilesSkill in establishing data-driven progress monitoring systems that inform instructional decisionsAbility to develop comprehensive IEPs that address skill deficits while aligning with Common Core standardsCollaborative mindset and leadership skills to work effectively on interdisciplinary teamsAbout your background (education / experience) :
Valid CA Special Education credential or intern credentialAt minimum, an intern-level special education credential (Master's Degree preferred)Classroom experience working with students with emotional / behavioral challenges and learning differencesUnderstanding of anxiety, ADHD, mood dysregulation, and specific learning challengesExperience implementing Common Core Curriculum, Universal Design for Learning, and differentiated instructionDemonstrated ability to create accommodations that optimize each student's learning experienceStrong interpersonal skills and experience preparing / presenting IEPsComfort with technology systems (G-suite, Outlook) and incorporating technology into instructionEffective classroom management skillsWorking Conditions :
Physical Requirements :
Ability to complete Pro-ACT crisis management system trainingAbility to stand and sit for extended periods during instruction and supervisionSpecial Job Requirements :
Availability for evening events (Back to School Night, Art Show, Achievement Night, staff training, IEP meetings)Valid CA driver's license preferredContact with Others :
Clear and effective oral and written communication skillsAbility to articulate expectations to classroom team and studentsCompensation :
Range : $70,000-$90,000 per year

The starting base salary for this position is as shown above. The actual base salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand.
