We are seeking an experienced Senior MES Engineer based in North Carolina to lead the design, configuration, and implementation of MES solutions that integrate seamlessly from Level 2 (control systems) to Level 4 (ERP systems) . In this leadership role, you'll collaborate directly with clients to identify requirements, develop specifications, oversee solution architecture, and manage project delivery from concept to commissioning.
You'll also have the opportunity to build and lead our growing MES presence in North Carolina , with a clear path toward running your own local MES office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of MES solutions for industrial and Life Science manufacturing environments.
- Serve as the MES Solution Architect , responsible for conceptualizing, detailing, and integrating MES with automation and ERP systems.
- Manage projects up to $1M , including budgeting, scheduling, task prioritization, and profitability oversight.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians; act as Project Manager on smaller-scale initiatives.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure MES solutions meet cGMP , 21 CFR Part 11 , S88 , S95 , and GAMP5 compliance standards.
- Interface MES with other systems, including DeltaV , SAP , LIMS , PI , and Maximo .
- Participate in trade shows, industry associations, and client meetings to help expand business opportunities.
- Drive process optimization and ensure alignment between IT / OT, data integrity, and manufacturing efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Sciences.810+ years of total MES experience; minimum 4 years within the Life Sciences sector.Hands-on experience deploying MES solutions such as Werum PAS-X, Sepasoft, or POMS .Proven success leading MES projects through all phases : conceptual design, implementation, testing, start-up, and commissioning.Strong understanding of GMP manufacturing , regulatory compliance , and validation documentation .Expertise in integrating MES with controls (PLC / DCS) , historians , relational databases (SQL / Oracle) , reporting systems , and ERP platforms .Excellent communication, technical writing, and leadership skills.Must be based in North Carolina with the ability to travel up to 25% .Prior experience with a System Integrator is highly preferred.Preferred Attributes
