Nursing Assistant Position

Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures, the Nursing Assistant provides basic direct and indirect care as a member of the patient care team. The direct patient care activities are related to measuring, recording and reporting patient information, provision of or assistance with activities of daily living, and simple treatments and procedures. The Nursing Assistant recognizes and addresses age appropriate and cultural needs when caring for patients. In addition, the Nursing Assistant assists in maintaining the patient and unit environment in a clean, orderly condition. The Nursing Assistant communicates changes on the status of the patient to the RN or in the RN's absence the resource nurse.

What you will do :

• Accurately observe, record and report patient information.
• Adhere to the standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures of the Hospital and Department of Patient Care Services.
• Assess and document vital signs on stable patients.
• Assist patient with and / or provide efficient care related to activities of daily living.
• Carry out responsibilities following safety guidelines.
• Complete orientation program and participate in learning activities.
• Consider age-specific needs when interacting with patients and families.
• Contribute in a positive manner to the unit, department and hospital goals.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills.
• Dress appropriately and wear name badge.
• Ensure patient identification and an allergy band is on patient at all times.
• Follow unit and departmental guidelines relate to staffing and scheduling.
• Help ensure that areas and halls are child-proof.
• Maintain a clean orderly and safe environment.
• May provide break relief or assistance to the unit clerk.
• On certain units, assist patients with rehabilitative activities.
• Orient patient and family to environment.
• Perform routine patient care.
• Provide sitter duties when needed for a patient.
• Recognize and provide age-appropriate care.
• Respond appropriately in actual or potential emergency events.
• Respond to alarms appropriately.
• Respond to customer / staff needs.
• Stock room with supplies.
• Support family centered care.
• Transfer patients.
• Use the computerized electronic health record.

Base Pay Scale : Generally starting at $34.96 - $39.20 per hour.
