The School’s curriculum supports the mission and recognizes the uniqueness of the region served, including concerns for disadvantaged, vulnerable, and oppressed individuals, families and communities. Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues.

The Office of Community Engagement and Outreach (OCEO) is a newly launched initiative within the UNC School of Social Work that seeks to reinforce, reimagine, and reenergize how the School partners with communities in pursuit of its mission : advancing equity, transforming systems, and improving lives. The OCEO strengthens both the School’s capacity for community engagement and the capacity of communities themselves to drive social change.

Position Summary :

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. If business needs change, an individual employee’s designation may be adjusted with a required minimum of ten (10) business days’ notice unless employee conduct or safety issues necessitated otherwise at the discretion of management.

The Community Engagement Program Manager is a newly created position that will report to the Assistant Director of Community Engagement and Outreach and will collaborate closely with the Assistant Director and Associate Dean of Community Engagement and Outreach to pilot programs and services that respond to community priorities around complex social challenges such as poverty, food insecurity, workforce development, healthcare access, affordable housing, child care, and other areas that affect community health and well-being.
