Overview
The Apprentice Electrician IV continues developing advanced skills in the electrical trade, demonstrating a high level of competency in installations, troubleshooting, and conduit work. This role involves working independently or under limited supervision to execute complex electrical tasks in commercial and industrial settings.
Essential Functions
- Identifies and organizes all materials used in the electrical trade.
- Plans and executes underground installations with precision, adhering to provided specifications.
- Performs all aspects of rough-in electrical installations with minimal supervision, ensuring proper use of tools and equipment.
- Demonstrates advanced skills in hand bending EMT, with proficiency in using mechanical and table benders for larger EMT and rigid conduit.
- Installs panel interiors and pulls feeders within one-line systems with little to no supervision.
- Assists in the setting and assembly of SES (Service Entrance Section) and transformers as part of electrical system installations.
- Contributes to branch power system installations, including disconnects, homerun installations, terminations, branch circuit pulling, and fuse applications.
- Provides comprehensive support to journeyman electricians by assisting with complex tasks as needed.
- Interprets complex blueprints, symbols, layouts, and scales with precision, managing small scopes of work.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment while adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Adheres to company tool policies, demonstrating initiative in investing in and maintaining required trade tools.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.Three (3) years of prior experience in commercial or industrial electrical installation.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.Preferred Qualifications
Enrollment in or willingness to join a certified electrical apprenticeship program.Strong proficiency in conduit bending, including mechanical and hydraulic bending techniques.Experience assisting in SES assembly, transformer setup, and complex system terminations.Familiarity with NEC chapters 1-4 and demonstrated ability to navigate and apply electrical codes.Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and leadership capabilities.OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a one-for-one year basis or vice versa.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of electrical trade materials, NEC regulations, and complex electrical installations.Knowledge of advanced conduit bending techniques, underground systems, and troubleshooting methods.Skill in executing rough-in installations, panel wiring, and transformer setup.Skill in interpreting and managing work scopes from blueprints and technical drawings.Ability to work independently or under the supervision of a journeyman electrician with efficiency and accuracy.Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting, working at heights, and operating in confined spaces.Ability to take ownership of projects, problem-solve, and lead small tasks effectively.Work Environment
Medium work environment. Indoor and outdoor work with exposure to uncomfortable and hazardous physical, ergonomic, and / or emotional environment. Work requires lifting up to 50 pounds and wearing protective equipment; exposure to environmental conditions, weather, climbing, crawling, lying, and working under pressure.
