Our Clinic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) reports to the Director of Clinic Operations and supports Edgerton Hospital by performing clinical duties consistent with practice setting including, but not limited to the following :
- Performs clinical duties consistent with practice setting including, but not limited to the following : coordinates scheduling of individual patient appointments in order to maintain efficiency; prepares patient and chart for clinic appointment; assists in admission, transfer, discharge process of patient; takes and records vital signs, weight, height; head circumference; assists in the collection of data and assessment of patient; able to triage urgency of patient care needs, in person or telephone, utilizing guidelines established by supervising physician; provides patient with health care instructions.
- Prepares patient medical records for daily visits and updates medical record with medications, allergies, problem list, histories and past surgeries as needed.
- Prepares treatment areas for patient care.
- Interprets and implements provider orders.
- Performs delegated medical and nursing acts, maintaining adequate documentation.
- Demonstrates current knowledge about medications and follow safe practices of administration.
- Performs phlebotomy, laboratory procedures, EKG's, and other nursing procedures with accuracy and utilization of safe techniques.
- Performs nursing procedures in accordance with the Nurse Practice Acts.
- Performs clerical skills as necessary, including answering phones, scheduling appointments and procedures, maintenance of the electronic health record.
- Prepares and / or completes paperwork and prior authorizations related to referrals, insurance, surgery, etc. as necessary.
- May assist provider, with procedures in the clinic setting.
- Ensures appropriate inventory and equipment to meet provider and patient needs (both in exam rooms and clinic).
- Ensures transfer of lab specimens, deposit, and mail to and from the hospital.
- Verbalizes and demonstrates expectations related to performance improvement.
- Actively and willingly takes on additional projects within the department or hospital.
- Continues to update skills by utilizing educational opportunities. Completes required hospital house wide education.
- Maintains BLS certification
- Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
Requirements
Required Licensure / Certifications :
Current and valid Wisconsin LPN license to practiceCurrent BLS certification1-2 years medical experience in a clinic setting
