Position : HR Manager
Schedule : Must be flexible for evening, weekend, or occasional overnight shifts
Team Size : ~800 employees (97% hourly), unionized workforce (SEIU)
Compensation :
- Bonus : 10% (bonus not applicable for the current year due to late start date)
Role Overview :
The HR Manager will act as a strategic business partner to station leadership and a trusted resource for employees. This role involves managing employee relations, labor relations with SEIU, compliance, leadership coaching, and driving culture and retention initiatives for a large hourly workforce.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage employee relations matters including investigations, issue resolution, and HR presence in operations.Support union activities : contract interpretation, grievance handling (Level 1), and negotiation support.Coach and train managers on performance management, communication, corrective actions, and leadership development.Partner with leadership on staffing, onboarding, retention, and succession planning.Ensure compliance with federal / state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, Wage & Hour, I-9 / E-Verify, Workers’ Comp, etc.).Maintain HRIS accuracy and process personnel changes (pay, position, promotions, terminations, etc.).Collaborate with departments to ensure compliance with wages, benefits, LOA, workers' comp, and termination payouts.Monitor turnover rates and implement local retention strategies.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree required; SHRM-CP / PHR certification.4–6+ years of HR experience, ideally supporting a large hourly workforce.Union experience required (SEIU or similar).Strong background in employee relations, investigations, compliance, and leadership coaching.Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and HRIS systems.Ability to be both strategic and hands‑on, with strong communication and relationship‑building skills.Best regards,
