Estimator - Construction
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Estimator to support our growing project portfolio. This role is essential in ensuring accurate cost projections, competitive bids, and successful project execution across construction, engineering, and infrastructure initiatives. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Project Analysis Develop bidding strategies aligned with company capabilities and goals Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to define project scope Analyze blueprints and technical documents to determine material, labor, and equipment needs Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather critical data Ensure all bid components are accurate, complete, and competitive Cost Estimation Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead Use estimating software and databases to calculate quantities and costs Research market rates and obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors Proposal Development Create comprehensive bid proposals in response to ITTs and RFPs Compile cost estimates, schedules, and technical data into professional bid packages Ensure timely and compliant bid submissions Proficient in Procore or similar construction management platforms Proposal Review & Subcontractor Analysis Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals for scope, pricing, and qualifications Negotiate favorable terms for subcontracts and purchase orders Value Engineering Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality Recommend alternative materials, methods, or designs to optimize value Collaborate with stakeholders to implement value engineering strategies Risk & Contingency Planning Assess risks such as price volatility, labor shortages, or site conditions Integrate contingency allowances into estimates Develop mitigation strategies to protect project budgets and timelines Budgeting & Cost Control Partner with project managers to monitor budgets and manage cost variations Coordinate with finance teams to ensure fiscal discipline Documentation & Reporting Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and project correspondence Archive historical data for future reference and benchmarking Prepare reports on estimating performance, cost breakdowns, and variance analysis Client & Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to align on project expectations Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to clarify scope and logistics Respond to client inquiries and negotiate pricing to secure contracts Team Collaboration & Handoff Work closely with internal teams to ensure estimates align with project goals Participate in pre-construction meetings to transition projects to execution teams Promote a culture of teamwork, transparency, and continuous learning Continuous Improvement Stay current on industry trends, pricing, and regulatory changes Pursue professional development and adopt best practices in estimating Leverage new tools and technologies to improve accuracy and efficiency Flexibility in a Small Team Environment Embrace a collaborative, multi-role culture where team members may occasionally support other functions Adapt to evolving needs with a focus on long-term efficiency and role specialization Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Schedule Adherence : Timely completion of estimating milestones Budget Accuracy : Variance between estimated and actual costs Cost Predictability : Ability to forecast and manage project expenses Resource Efficiency : Effective use of labor and materials Communication : Quality and timeliness of internal and external coordination Stakeholder Satisfaction : Engagement and feedback from clients and partners Benefits Bonus / commission based on gross profitMedical 100% covered by company immediatelyDental &Vision - Subsidized by company 401K with company match Cell Phone Allowance & Mileage reimbursementPTO & Holidays
