EHS Coordinator
Location : Kansas City, KS (on-site) Pay : 75K
Ensure all EHS recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met. Coordinate and facilitate meetings of the Joint EHS Committee. Participate in ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements. Facilitate the resolution and timely response to EHS action plans. Administer Workers Compensation program. Follow all WC cases with appropriate tracking and recordkeeping. Maintain written programs and procedures in accordance with ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, and corporate EHS and ergonomics requirements. Serve as the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Representative. Administer and coordinate all environmental-related items and permits as required to comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Generate compliance reports as required. Update documents to remain current with the latest requirements and legislation. Coordinate inspections with corporate, federal, state, and local agencies when necessary. Provide input in the development stages of current as well as pending processes entering into the facility. Train employees in all necessary EHS programs, policies, and procedures. Conduct new hire orientation for EHS. Ensure training is documented. Coordinate all hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage, handling, and disposal. Provide statistics for continual improvement in the workplace in regards to EHS. Ensure external and internal complaints related to EHS are recorded appropriately and reported to management. Coordinate emergency response procedures, training, and practice drills. Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and job hazard analysis for continual improvement and to reduce workplace incidents and injuries. Coordinate post incident drug and alcohol screens as necessary. Participate in and conduct environmental compliance and conformance audits. Ensure the proper selection of EHS supplies including PPE. Document all activities as required. Adhere to all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety. Any additional responsibility deemed necessary by management.
Limits of Authority Advise the Department Manager of those situations that may pose a significant risk to the program, product assurance, facilities, employee safety or customer satisfaction results. Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to products, processes & systems. Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process or system. Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through the appropriate channels and verify implementation. Control further processing and delivery of nonconforming products until the deficiency is corrected.
Basic Education, Experience, and Skills Required A degree in safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene or a related degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. EHS Coordinator for Canadian operations must complete WSIB / IAPA Part I & Part II Certification Training as a Designated Employee. Knowledge of Workers Compensation. Experience in working with ISO 14001. Knowledge of industrial ergonomics. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. Knowledge of OSHA (and / or state) standards. CSA standards for Canadian operations. Must have excellent verbal and communication skills. Must have proficient computer knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
