Responsibilities
- Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility as part of the transport team in collaboration with the transport physician and / or Registered Nurse.
- Initiates and implements interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
- Contacts receiving medical personnel, reports observations and follows directives.
- Inspects, maintains and cares for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
- May be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and / or supplies.
- Complies with the Air Medical Vendor limitations and physical requirements.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration :
Required Credential(s) :
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Drivers License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Emergency Medical Tech specializing in ER Vehicle Operation credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC), or Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) credentialed from Coaching Systems.
- Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Certified Prehospital Trauma Life Spprt obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
One or more of the following :
- Paramedic specializing in Critical Care credentialed from the International Board of Specialty Certification obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Certified Paramedic specializing in Flight obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date. Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C)
Education
High school diploma / GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
Work Experience :
- Minimum Qualification : Three years of experience in Emergency Medical Services.
- Preferred Qualification : Five years of experience in Emergency Medical Services.

The Ascension St. Vincent Critical Care Transport (Adult ·Neonatal ·Pediatric ·Maternal Fetal) team is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS).

Our Critical Care Transport (CCT) teams provide the highest quality of advanced transport medical treatment using industry-leading equipment while delivering safe and exceptional ICU-level care.
Outside of industry-leading equipment, these crews are staffed with diverse backgrounds including Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Paramedics and EMTs.
This is how our teams can safely coordinate and manage a wide range of emergency calls that include adults, pediatrics and neonatal patients.
We work closely with Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St Vincent to ensure we have the team members available to coordinate all pediatric or neonatal calls.
We are committed to safety in every transport, quality care delivery for every patient, and securing tomorrows for the patients we serve while strengthening communities.
Shifts and Locations Available :
Full time, rotating - (3) 12-hour shifts or (1) 24-hour shift and (1) 12-hour shift per week. Days, nights, weekends and holidays are required for a 24 / 7 operation.

In-house education offered on a rolling calendar at both a departmental and organizational level.
Classes include but not limited to : PHTLS, AMLS, ACLS, PALS, BLS, EVOC, Audit and Review, and NRP.
EMT's and Paramedics are able to affiliate with the Critical Care Transport department.
In-house Medical Directors to sign off re-certifications for both EMT's and Paramedics.
