Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Recreation Specialist based in Portsmouth, VA. The Recreation Specialist will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading recreational activities and programs for residents. Responsibilities include developing activity schedules, coordinating with staff, ensuring safety and engagement, maintaining equipment, and fostering a positive environment. The goal is to improve residents' physical, mental, and social well-being through meaningful activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning and organizing recreational activities and programs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and independently
• Knowledge of safety protocols and ensuring a safe environment
• Creative and energetic approach to developing engaging activities
• Relevant certifications in recreation or activity coordination are a plus
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is beneficial
