Job Summary
Performs the duties necessary to service and prepare all coaches and transit vehicles for the next day's route assignments and scheduled maintenance. These duties include but are not limited to interior coach cleaning, fueling, adding oil and coolant, washing and completing associated paperwork for all vehicles. Coordinates with Operations and Fleet Maintenance staff. Duties also include occasional facilities maintenance work.
Essential Job Functions :
- Operates a variety of public transit vehicles as needed to prepare and position the units for revenue service.
- Performs a variety of tasks to clean the interior of transit coaches, including cleaning seats, windows and handrails, vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing and mopping floors, removing graffiti, cleaning and disinfecting bio-spills and other special cleaning needs.
- Sets up and operates automatic bus washers. Partially washes coaches by hand. Washes other WTA vehicles by hand.
- Refuels coaches, checks and adds fluids including oil, coolant, windshield wash fluid, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), etc.
- Performs maintenance and repairs on bus washers.
- Makes daily inspection of coaches to note and address special cleaning needs. May also note damage to the interior or exterior or defective equipment. Writes up defect order for repair of defective equipment and coordinates with maintenance staff.
- Picks up articles left on coaches by passengers and gives items and information to Dispatch.
- Maintains cleanliness of bus yard and fuel island, including using spill absorbent materials to soak up oil spots. Use hand and power equipment to wash and sweep fuel island and bus yard grounds, etc.
- Maintains daily service log, oil consumption records and other associated records. Routes recorded information to their proper destinations.
- Removes fare vaults at set intervals and replaces them with empty vaults. Maintains the security of fare vaults and loose fares throughout the fare drop process.
- Coordinates with Fleet Maintenance staff and Operations staff on fleet availability for scheduling of maintenance repairs and daily coach assignments.
- During winter removes snow and ice from parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and bus stops.
- Works as a team member with other service section personnel, including route and facility maintenance staff.
- May maintain and repair a variety of facility systems including plumbing, bus washers, door openers, etc.
- Follows safety policies, procedures and guidelines. Maintains a safe, clean and orderly work area.
- Responsible for the proper labeling of all containers of paints and chemical products used.
Additional Job Functions :
Performs minor overhead door maintenance and repair. May remove and install vehicle graphics, signage and notices on coaches and vehicles. Cleans and disinfects bio-spills at shelters and WTA facilities.
