Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Bismarck, ND 58501 (North Dakota travel nursing jobs)

Healthcare Setting : Acute Care – Medical Surgical Unit (24 beds)

Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 17 / 2025 – End : 2 / 16 / 2026)

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Shift : 12-hour rotating day / night shifts (6 : 00 AM – 6 : 30 PM & 6 : 00 PM – 6 : 30 AM), every other weekend and holiday

Employment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

Dress Code : Navy Blue Scrubs

Estimated Weekly Pay : $2,140 - $2,290

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active North Dakota or Compact RN license (required for travel RN jobs in North Dakota)

BLS certification required

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg RN experience

Proficient in pre- and post-op patient care, IV starts, dressing changes, Foley catheter insertion, and general nursing skills

EPIC EMR experience preferred

Strong organizational and clinical skills to manage high patient turnover

Willingness to float to other Medical Surgical units as needed

Not accepting local travelers with permanent addresses within 80 miles

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive care for observation and short-stay patients (chest pain, abdominal pain, post-op procedures, infusions, and more)

Efficiently manage admissions and discharges (high turnover : up to 12 admissions and 10 discharges per 12-hour shift)

Perform IV starts, dressing changes, Foley catheter insertions, and routine clinical nursing procedures

Utilize EPIC EMR for accurate charting and Acu-dose for medication administration

Collaborate with a supportive healthcare team (1 : 5 RN-to-patient ratio; never work alone)

Participate in comprehensive orientation and training, including classroom instruction for charting systems

Float to other Med / Surg areas as part of the regular rotation
