Overall Job Purpose :
Canyon Fuel Company, LLC, a subsidiary of Wolverine Fuels, operates two underground coal mines in central Utah and has an immediate opening for a full-time Environmental Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Maintain environmental permits with regulatory agencies (BLM, USFS, DOGM)
- Monitor mining operation to assure compliance that all environmental regulatory permits
- Accompany agency personnel during environmental inspections
- Plan and manage projects associated with environmental compliance
Preferred Education & Experience :
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining / Civil / Environmental), Environmental Science, or equivalent experience
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Strong communication (listening, verbal, written) and interpersonal skills
- General understanding of engineering principles (material science, water / waste-water, soil / rock mechanics, hydraulics / pump networks, economics)
- Excellent computer skills (AutoCAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications :
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering License (PE)
- Experience in underground continuous and longwall mining methods
- Experience in regulatory (MSHA, BLM, USFS and / or DOGM) permitting and compliance
- Experience in project management
