Salesian High School is seeking qualified candidates for the position of ELA Teacher for the upcoming 2024 / 2025 school year .

Responsibilities

  • Developing unit and lesson plans focused on helping students develop 21st-century skills and competencies in regard to the ELA curriculum.
  • Implement instructional strategies that promote growth in student communication skills (i.e. writing, presentations, and public speaking).
  • Promote student achievement and progress through assessments (formative and summative), with the provision of differentiated instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Maintaining a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes high-end student learning, and fosters an appreciation for literature.
  • Fostering open lines of communication with families to provide updates on student progress and behavior.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the English Department to develop and implement a cohesive science program.
  • Participate in faculty supervision before / after school and during lunch periods, as scheduled and needed.

Required Qualifications / Educational Background and / or Experience The successful candidate will have...

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing as well as in person.
  • Strong background in the area of literacy, with the ability to utilize effective strategies that grow student literary skills.
  • Experience in cross-curricular instructional planning with the aim of fostering a more holistic learning experience for students.
  • Skill in integrating technology effectively to enhance classroom instruction and student learning.
  • Skills to effectively manage a high school classroom including the ability to create an environment conducive to learning and effectively resolving student behavior incidents.
  • Familiarity with Salesian charism and educational practice, or a willingness to be further formed in Salesian educational theory and practice.
  • At a minimum, a Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Willingness to consent to a background check and participate in Archdiocesan and Salesian "Safeguarding" training.

Salary range for individuals new to the position is $45,000 - $50,000. Final salary offered will be commensurate to the candidate's experience.
