JOB TITLE : NOC Transport Technician II DEPARTMENT : NOC
REPORTS TO : NOC Manager FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Job Overview
The NOC Transport Technician II is responsible for analyzing, testing, isolating and repairing level 2 transport and customer issues as well as provisioning new services. This may include any or all issues related to facilities, routing and translations, equipment configuration. The NOC Transport Technician II will serve as the initial escalation point for trouble tickets and orders.
Job Specific Responsibilities
- The Transport Technician will focus primarily on IP and data related trouble tickets and order tasks to include : configuration, troubleshooting, and updating
- Implement, configure, monitor, and repair SD-WAN solutions
- Build and manage cellular failover equipment implemented through various Fortinet and Cisco equipment
- Create and modify equipment templates
- Configuration of VLAN and DHCP pools
- Configure, set-up and test CPE, including but not limited to Cisco and Adtran routers, Fortigate firewalls, FortiAP access points, Meraki access points, and Ethernet switches.
- Endpoint inventory to include :
MAC Address and serial number assignment
Trouble Ticket and Order Tasks
Work assigned level 2 trouble ticketsProcess assigned level 2 order tasksMaintain workload through a queue detailing each ticket with notes of steps taken, test results and fix action. Repair tickets and orders are measured on a weekly basisShared Responsibilities
Participate in an on-call rotation - each rotation is a full calendar weekMonitor core network elements, network performance, and facilities for service issuesPerform remote troubleshooting while maintaining a positive and professional manner at all times in high-stress situationsParticipate in a call queue and receive repair calls and provide status to customers on a regular basisComplete scheduled preventative maintenance checks on core network elementsMake recommendations for process and procedure improvementCreate and maintain methods of procedureQualifications
Education(Preferred) Bachelor's Degree in CIS, MIS, related field or applicable work experience
Network+ certification preferredExperience2+ years of voice and data troubleshooting, and Cisco routing and switching experience, VoIP experience preferred
KnowledgeIntermediate understanding of Transport, IP, LAN / WAN technology concepts
Intermediate understanding of SIP, ISDN, and MPLS protocolsIntermediate knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF and BGPIntermediate knowledge of VLAN and DHCPIntermediate knowledge of Adtran, Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki PoE switches, and routersSkillsIntermediate understanding of TCP / IP and the OSI model
