Public Safety Dispatcher II Lateral (Hiring Incentive Available!)

The Position

The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting to establish a list for Public Safety Dispatcher II - (Lateral).

• Lateral Incentive!
• Available to Lateral Dispatchers who successfully complete the hiring process with the City of Yuba City. The incentive would be paid in four (4) payments : The first payment of $7500 would be made upon commencement of employment. The second payment of $5000 would be made upon successful completion of the training program. The third payment of $5000 would be made upon the successful completion of 18 months of employment with the City. The fourth and final payment of $5000 would be made upon successful completion of 36 months of employment with the City. A lateral dispatcher upon successful hiring would also be given an initial bank of 40 hours of sick leave.

Public Safety Dispatchers operate Police Fire and local government radio equipment; dispatch mobile units and provide Emergency Medical Dispatch instructions while performing other related duties.

Employees at this level receive only general direction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedure and policies within the work unit. Employees allocated to this job class must work independently and possess the ability to prioritize assignments and information in an effective and productive manner. Employees must successfully pass training for CPR EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatching) and the POST Dispatch Academy. Employees are assigned to varying work schedules nights weekends holidays and overtime when required to keep the 24 hour dispatch center fully staffed.

Candidate should have the ability to address caller concerns and provide quality service at a level that exceeds expectations. Must thrive under pressure and have the ability to work quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.

A City Hall holiday closure has been instituted for the period beginning Monday November 24 2025 through Friday November 28 2025. City Hall will be CLOSED to the public during this time. Any inquiries regarding the recruitment or the application process will be addressed the week of December 1 2025 when City Hall reopens.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience : At least one (1) year experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher I or at least one (1) year of Police Dispatch experience with another law enforcement agency.

Licenses and / or Certificates Required : Possession of a valid California drivers license.
