REMOTE Product Owner

Job Description

A client of Insight Global is looking for a Product Owner to join the Data Engineering team as they are redesigning our Car Hire and UMLER products, which serves railcar owners and railroads by processing railcar movement and waybill data in order to calculate rental charges.

We anticipate that it will take approximately two more years to complete this project, and we are now seeking a Technical Product Owner to collaborate with our Agile development team.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the team's backlog, which includes tasks such as writing stories, prioritizing work, and providing guidance to developers based on the project requirements.

We are looking for someone with a strong background as a Product Owner and a solid understanding of Data Engineering practices.

Interface with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand Car Hire product needs

Develop and maintain product roadmap

Write stories for development backlog

Prioritize and maintain development backlog

Lead backlog refinement sessions

Report backlog progress to

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of Product Owner experience working with Agile development teams

Experience with Azure DevOps for backlog organization

Knowledge of relational databases and query authoring (SQL)

Knowledge of ETL / ELT processes

Experience working with remote teams

Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with Databricks

Experience building solutions on Azure Cloud infrastructure

Knowledge of JSON

Experience with Python

Experience in the rail industry
