Asheboro, North Carolina Anesthesiologist – Locum Tenens

Week-On / Week-Off Coverage | Supervised Care Team Model | Full-Scope Anesthesia Practice

Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking a skilled and dependable Board-Certified Anesthesiologist (MD / DO) for an ongoing locum tenens assignment in central North Carolina . This long-term position offers a steady week-on / week-off schedule, full autonomy during night shifts, and the opportunity to join a trusted regional hospital providing comprehensive surgical and obstetric services.

This is an ideal role for a physician seeking balanced scheduling, a supportive team structure, and meaningful clinical impact in a community-based hospital setting.

Assignment Highlights

  • Location : Asheboro, North Carolina
  • Facility Type : Acute Care Hospital (145 Beds)
  • Contract Type : Locum Tenens
  • Start Date : ASAP / Upon Credentialing
  • Duration : Ongoing (long-term need)
  • Schedule : 24 / 7 coverage, working every other week

Shift Structure :

  • Daytime : 10-hour shifts supervising 4–5 CRNAs
  • Nighttime : 5 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM (solo call coverage)
  • Call : Yes — 1st call for OR, back-up for OB
  • Cases Per Year : ~5,468
  • OB Volume : ~600 cases annually
  • Operating Rooms : 4–5 rooms daily, occasionally 6
  • Travel : Provided (airfare, lodging, rental)
  • EMR : Meditech

    • Case Mix

  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedics
  • OB / GYN (including labor epidurals)
  • ENT
  • Endoscopy
  • No cardiac or neurosurgery cases
  • Regional Blocks required

    • Team & Structure

  • Care Team Model : 4–5 CRNAs per day
  • Supervision : Supervise CRNAs during daytime; perform own cases overnight
  • Support : Collaborative environment with experienced nursing and surgical staff
  • Coverage Model : Week-on / week-off schedule for consistent work-life balance

    • Candidate Requirements

  • Board Certification : ABA (required)
  • Licensure : Active, unrestricted North Carolina medical license (required)
  • Certifications : ACLS, BLS
  • Experience : Proficiency with regional blocks and obstetric anesthesia
  • File Status : Clean malpractice and background required for credentialing
  • Minimum Commitment : 7 shifts per month
